| Harley Hogstrom, 88, of Eau Claire,
passed away at Dove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on January
7, 2009, surrounded by family. |

Harley was born on January 31, 1920, in Mason, Wisconsin, to
Andrew and Olga (Welin) Hogstrom. He graduated from Ashland High
School and worked for a year at a CCC Camp in Camp Delta, Bayfield
County. He then worked for about one year in Chicago. In 1941, he
joined the Army Air Corps and flew as a navigator on a B-24
Liberator for 31 missions over Europe-two of which were on June 6,
1944: D-Day.
While on leave in December 1943, Harley and Lucille married in San Marcos, Texas. After his discharge from the Army Air Corps, they settled in Eau Claire. Harley began working at National Presto Industries, eventually retiring in 1983 as materials manager. For the past 12 years, he worked as a crossing guard for the Eau Claire School District at the corner of Hamilton and Ellis. He loved the school children who crossed at his corner.

| Harley was an active member of his church, where he was head usher for many years. He was also a very active member of the Masons for 52 years. During that time, he was the head of various Masonic orders, including a year as Grand Commander of the Knights Templar of the state of Wisconsin. He also received the green hat for Scottish Rite, and was a member of Zor Shrine. In addition, he was secretary for Lodge 112 and recorder for York Rite bodies. |

In his spare time, Harley loved to golf and bowl, spending many years as a member of leagues for both sports. He also loved spending time with his family.
Harley is survived by his wife, Lucille; 3 daughters: Pat (Gary) Burnam, Diane (Arlen) Stuber, and Joy (Mike) Rookaird; 8 grandchildren: Jeff (Cathy) Meindel, Angie (Chris) Harmon, Dan (Heather) Burnam, Clay Burnam, Melanie (Mike) Slagstad, Brian Rookaird, Christina Rookaird, Erik (Grey) Hogstrom; 9 great-grandchildren: Karen (Gordon), Joyce (Jared), Courtney, McKayla, Kaysi, Andrew, Zach, Maysa, and Alex; and 2 great-great-grandchildren: Rhylee and Joshua.
He was preceded in death by his son Jim, his parents, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009, at Lake Street United Methodist Church. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church. A 7:00 p.m. Masonic service will take place at the funeral home Sunday evening to conclude the visitation. Burial will take place on Monday immediately following the service in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #305.
