Marvin was born April 6, 1924 the son of Arlie and Tillie (Otto) Hutchinson. He was the youngest of three children. He attended Allen Grade School and Osseo High School. He enlisted at the start of WWII in the Army Air Corps. Marvin participated on D-Day and throughout the European Campaign of WWII. He was honorably discharged on October 16, 1945 at the rank of Sergeant. 
 
He married Lorraine H. Forthun on March 4, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN.
 
Marvin was employed by Ed Phillips & Sons for 33 dedicated years, and he retired in 1986. He enjoyed reading, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of VFW Post #305. Marvin and Lorraine were active members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire for over 50 years. 
 
Marvin built his family a home at 3621 Alf Avenue in Eau Claire, where he and his family resided from 1959-1995. 
 
Marvin is survived by his wife Lorraine, sons Scott of Albany, MN, David and Kevin of Eau Claire and Kerry of Lebanon, PA, grandchildren Tammy, Erica, Joshua, Nicole, great-grandchildren Jacob, Tyler, and Haleigh and many nieces and nephews. His parents Arlie and Tillie, a brother Lowell and Sister Arlene preceded him in death.
