   Violet E. King died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry (Dick) in May 1993, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.  
 
She was born on October 21, 1921 in Wentworth, WI into a family of eight children. She left home at age 16 to work as a nanny and housekeeper so she could finish high school. She then completed two years of secretarial school. 
 
Violet was married to Dick King in 1942 and they raised three children, Sandy (Kim) Calkins, Eden Prairie, MN; Sheree (Lee) Powers, Woodbury, MN; and Jim (Dianne) King, St. Michael, MN. She has 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 
   

She enjoyed playing bridge, going to dinner with her many friends and traveling. Violet was considered a sweet and loving person who was quick to offer help to others and who was a joy to be around. She was the guiding light for her family and her wonderful spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
 
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday April 23, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Pastor Jim Page will officiate. Committal Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire on Wednesday evening from 4-7 pm and at the church Thursday morning from 10 am until the time of services.
