Ione Kruger

Ione Kruger, age 95, of Eau Claire passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at Luther Hospital.
		Ione was born on April 18, 1913 in Gilmanton, WI to William and Elnora (Goss) Shay. She married Raymond Kruger on August 23, 1929 in Wabasha, Minnesota. They went on to have three children: Beverly, Ronald "Donnie", and an infant son who died shortly after birth. They lived in Eau Claire County together up until Raymond's death in 1975. Ione then lived independently until a few years ago when she became a resident at Heatherwood Assisted Living. In her free time, Ione loved cooking, baking, and gardening as well as playing the organ and accordion. Ione was a proud member of Drammen Lutheran Church. Ione took pride in her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible.


Ione is survived by her daughter, Beverly Thompson; grandchildren, Steven (Karen) Thompson, Kim (Kevin) Accola, Valerie (Dan) Sabin, and Linda Kruger; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) and Marc (Melissa) Thompson, Justin (Kate) Thompson, Jessica (Dustin) Teigen, and Adam, Aaron, and Anna Accola; and three great-great-granddaughters: Macayla, Kennedy, and Jordan. Ione is also survived by her sister, Myrtle Pierce, and brother, Harry (Lorraine) Shay as well as her sister-in-law, Helen Kruger. She is survived by and will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; children, Donnie and an infant son; grandson, Michael Thompson; son-in-law, Merlin Thompson; and parents, William and Elnora Shay as well as 5 brothers and sisters, her step-father and step-brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday February 13, 2009 at Drammen Lutheran Church. Pastor Kathryn Gauger will be officiating. Burial will be in the Drammen Lutheran Church Cemetery immediately following services. Friends may call Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire on Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00 pm and at the church Friday morning an hour prior to services.
