Charles E. Moltz, age 84 of Eau Claire, died July 18, 2009. He was born to Walter and Gladys (Smith) Moltz on June 22, 1925, in Barron, Wisconsin, graduating in 1944 while participating in sports.
He enlisted in the U.S. AirForce in January of 1944 and served as a tail gunner on a B-17 in Italy. He served until the end of WWII when he was honorably discharged, then returned to Eau Claire where his parents lived. Charles worked at Uniroyal and Presto, then joined the Eau Claire Fire Department. He retired from the Eau Claire Fire Department as a Captain at #8 Fire station after serving thirty-two years. Charles was a lifetime member of Post #305. |
He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Klopp) Moltz; two daughters, Kay (Gary) Wilson, (Fridley, MN), Julie Ann (Tom) Rodrigue (Blaine, MN); two sons, Charles M. Moltz (Eau Claire) and Kurt E. Moltz (Eau Claire). Charles had nine grandchildren, Tia Stephan, Nicole
Fure, Tiffany Hood, Cassandra Rodrigue, Tamara Rodrigue (all from Minneapolis, MN), Aaron and Dustin
Moltz, Breck and Clair Moltz (all from Eau Claire). He had eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Samantha Severson, Dylan
Fure, Julia Rodrigue-Maloney, Isabella and Alexandra
Rodrigue-Kuznia, Ava and Abigail Hood.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanetta Golden.
Charles loved life and everything that went with it: fishing, gardening, woodworking and his favorite, the Packers.
He will be missed.
Family and friends may call at church Wednesday evening from 4 until 7 pm and again at church one hour prior to service on Thursday. A funeral service for Charles will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire, with Pastor Roger
Skatrud officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, where VFW Post #305 will conduct military honors.
