Eric Ronald Nixdorf, 46, Divide, CO,
passed away February 26, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO.
Eric was born November 29, 1962 in Eau Claire, WI to Ronald and
Yvonne (Johnson) Nixdorf.
He graduated from Memorial High School in 1981, and in 1985,
earned a BA in math and computer science from St. Olaf College,
Northfield, MN.

Eric first worked in the computer field with Cray
Research, Minneapolis, MN. After moving to Colorado, he worked in
computer systems, storage management, and product development for
Compaq, Digital and lastly Hewlett-Packard.
He enjoyed hiking, skiing, and fishing in the mountains he loved. He lived in the Rocky Mountains at nearly 10,000 feet, in the shadow of Pikes Peak, and would often recount visits outside his house from elk, bear and a mountain lion he dubbed Gus. He had a special interest in books and movies, attending film festivals around Colorado, but of most importance to Eric were his dogs, whom he referred to as "his boys." They were his constant companions in life. |

Eric is survived by parents Ronald and Yvonne Nixdorf of Eau Claire, his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Robert Ferraro, Leesburg, VA, three nephews, Trey, Luke and Andrew Ferraro, his aunts Marion Nixdorf, Eau Claire; Ardis Olson, Eleva; Karen (Richard) Fremsted, Eau Claire; Sonja (Charles) Scharf, Sarona; and Jone (Warren) Miller, Naples, FL; uncles David (Linda) Johnson and Michael Johnson, Eleva; John (Lois) Johnson, Mondovi; a great uncle Archie (Virginia) Rud, Eleva, and 16 first cousins. He also leaves behind his faithful companion dogs Birke and Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Esther Nixdorf, maternal grandparents Harold and Irene Johnson and Uncle Peter Johnson.
A memorial service will be held March 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, WI, with
Pastor Heather Wigdahl officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Cremation services were provided by Cappadona Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, CO. Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home is serving the family in Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Eau Claire, WI, or the Morris Animal Foundation at 'www.morrisanimalfoundation.org'.
Interment of cremains will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday May 30, 2009 at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. |
