Gene was born on September 18, 1928, on his
grandparent's farm in rural Rock Falls. Having grown up on the
family farm, he was blessed by the abundant love of his
grandparents, Peder and Thora Pederson, his mother, Alice
(Pederson) Stone and his aunts Ida Pederson, Elsie (Pederson)
Torgerson and uncle Olee Pederson.
Gene joined the Navy in 1945 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1947. While in the service, Gene was most proud to be a part of the testing of the first atomic bomb in the U.S. (Bikini Atoll) in the Marshall Islands. After his discharge form the Navy, Gene purchased his grandparents' farm and married Eleanor (Powers) Pederson in 1948. Together they raised their children, Linda Pederson, Julie Pederson, Vicki (Michael)
Voth, Randall Pederson, Deborah Michealson, Lori Pederson, and Jan (Rick) Hayden. |

Throughout his life, Gene was graced with the presence of many family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for the "Torgerson Boys". Gene loved playing a good game of cards and socializing with family and friends.
For the past two years, Gene battled with the darkness of Lewey Body Dementia. Although his memory failed him, he used to identify the ones he loved and who loved him. He was a fighter to the end and is now resting in the arms of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Gene will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his two sisters, Janelle Johnson and Judy Weissinger, six children, twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Alice Stone, wife Eleanor Pederson, daughter Julie Pederson, and an infant daughter.
