June was much younger than her years because of her active lifestyle. She was an active participant in her sons' lives, which included many sports and much hunting and fishing. Her grandchildren provided many opportunities for her including games, plays, recitals and other events that she eagerly attended. She was able to care for her husband at home for more than six years as his health declined.
June's greatest happiness was her family. Many cherished memories of four generations were made at the large gatherings at her home. She was renowned for her lefsa. June spent many summers at their cabin in Gordon where she enjoyed fishing with her sons and grandchildren. Another of her favorite pastimes was going to the casino with her brothers.
June was a remarkable woman. She was a hard worker and extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. June was the center of the family and our lives will be diminished without her. We will remember her quick wit and generosity of time and love.
June is survived by her sons Bruce (Vicky) of New Richmond, Lincoln (Paulette) of Fall Creek, and Mark (Carla) of Altoona. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeff (Faith) Peterson, Kari (Jake) Villapudua, Amy (Jeff) Ramseier, Scott (Lisa) Peterson, Angela (Todd) Stene, David (Merodie) Peterson, Eric (Nikola) Wick, Sarah (Steve) Wiggins, and Heather Peterson and 20 great-grand children. She is further survived by three brothers, Ted (Donna), Norman, and Doug (Debbie) Melland, and one sister, Carol Fisher.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce in 2005, one sister, Phoebe, and five brothers, Carman, Emil, Ivan, Robert, Jerry and LaVerne, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
