Henry “Max” Dennis Ring, 75, of Eau Claire passed away Saturday September 19, 2009 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona. 


 

    
Memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Thursday September 24, 2009 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 pm (noon) until the time of services. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #53 at the conclusion of the services. Committal service will take place on Friday September 25, 2009 at 2 pm at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
 
He was born June 27, 1934 to Henry and Elvira “Vera” (Marten) Ring at home in Bass Lake Wisconsin. Henry moved to Eau Claire when quite young and attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1953.
 
Henry enlisted in the USAF in January 1954, stationed in California before being assigned to an Air Force base in England October 1954. He married his wife Margaret “Nancy” Knibbs in 1956 in England and returned to Eau Claire Wisconsin in 1958. After working for LG Arnold Construction Company as a truck driver, Henry joined the Eau Claire Police Dept in 1961.
   

Henry worked as a police officer in the Patrol Division, was a detective in the Narcotics division, and achieved the rank of Captain in 1971. Henry was also a 1970 graduate of the Southern Police Institute and a 1973 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. 
 
He left the department in 1976 to pursue other ventures. After a stroke in 2003, he retired.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents
 
Survivors include his wife Margaret “Nancy” of Eau Claire, Three children; Maxine (Pat) Katterhagen of Eau Claire, Dennis (Karen) of Chippewa, and Kenneth of Eau Claire; a brother Anthony “Tony” (Hazel) Ring of Thorp , Aunt Doris and her daughter Bev of Eau Claire; Six Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
