He was born March 31st, 1918 in Crystal Falls, MI to Giovanni and Marchellina
Rossato. At the age of one he returned to his parent's homeland of Italy, where he was raised among his loving extended family. In 1938, he returned to the United States to pursue the great American dream. He worked to build a life, beginning his journey in Duluth, MN, where he worked in the ship yards. Later he moved to the Milwaukee area where he learned the tile and terrazzo trade from his uncle. He traveled to Duluth on the weekends to be near his Italian community and friends In Duluth he met the love of his life, Antonietta
Priley. They married in 1940 at St Peter's Catholic Church. He created a life through his hard work in the tile and terrazzo trade and eventually settled in Eau Claire, WI. Together they raised four children, Stephanie (Edward)
Wiersgalla, John (Louise) Rossato, Rosalie (Warren) Hotchkiss, and Guy (Rebecca)
Rossato, all of Eau Claire. They lived a much fulfilled life together spending time with family, as well as many friends. |
Guido loved his home and the life they built. He owned and operated Eau Claire Tile and Terrazzo, a thriving business. He tended to his fruit trees and grapes during the summer months and decorated for all of Main Street to enjoy during the holidays. He and Toni also enjoyed traveling and made 13 trips to their homeland to visit family. In 1961, Guido was joined in Eau Claire by his younger sister Savina and her husband Peter
Guadagno. Over the years he was grateful for the opportunities life offered him. In 1996 he lost his loving wife of 56 years.
They were blessed and are survived by their children, 13 grandchildren; Paul
Wiersgalla, Daniel (Paige) Wiersgalla, Cristina Wiersgalla, Angela
(Jahn) Eberhardt, Andrea (William) Anderson, Lucas (Vanessa) Hotchkiss, Brianna and Samuel Hotchkiss, Kerri (Steve) Hotchkiss, Cassandra (Jeremy)
Kulow, Anthony, Mario, and Gianni Rossato, and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Savina of Eau Claire, Asunta Abate of Italy, and brother Danielli

Guido's family is thankful for the special care and friendship he received from his caretaker Virginia "Doddie" Homme over the past 2 years. Through her assistance, and the support of the St. Josephs hospice he was able to spend his final days in the comfort of his lifelong home.
A celebration of Guido's life will begin on Thursday, February 5th at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home with the visitation from 4-7pm, and from 10-11am Friday, February 6th, with service to follow. His final resting place will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. May his love of life live on… Ciao Bello!
