Big Jon was born in Eau Claire on October 27, 1954 to Robert & Adele (Johnson) Running Sr. He graduated from North High School in 1973 and that same year began working at Brown Paper Co., now Cascades, where he retired from in 2008. He was often a bouncer at Scott's Channel 14 and Wagner's in the 1970's and 1980's.

He had many cherished memories of fishing, hunting, joke telling and card playing in Minong and the Rack Attack Shack in Lampson with friends he treasured. In the last few years, Jon did his hunting, joke telling and card playing at the "Man Cave" with Steve, Tucker, Sam and Denny. His chair was empty this hunting season and a great ache and sadness was inflicted by his absence, but the cloud was lifted as wonderful memories of years past were shared and the promise of life eternal with our Savior was remembered.

To meet Jon was to have an immediate friend. He will be deeply missed by his family: sister Jean Running (and Shadow) of Eau Claire/ Mesa, AZ, sister Joann and favorite brother-in-law, Denny Blaeser, nephew Corey Blaeser and friend Donna Lokken, niece Jodeen and Steven Flaten, Tucker and Sam, all of Eau Claire, his very special neighbor boys, the Smurfs, Josh and Tim Liljander.  Jon was preceded in death by his parents.
