Peter J. Scarseth, age 86, of Eau Claire, died Monday at Luther Hospital.
Peter was born in 1923 in Galesville, WI to Roy and Beulah (Killenger)
Scarseth.

He attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he met his wife, Maxine Thompson. They wed on September 13, 1947. He later attended and graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign in 1948. He sold feed for Swift and Co. for 9 years where he once commented he "had driven a million miles." He started his banking career at First Federal and began his employment in 1957. He became Assistant Treasurer in 1961 and Vice-President in 1965. He became President of the company in 1970 and retired in 1986. Peter was past president of Kiwanis and Chicago Federal Home Loan Bank Board, a member of the executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America, the board of directors of the Eau Claire United Fund, the Downtown Development Association, the board of the Chamber of Commerce, the Eau Claire-Chippewa Board of Realtors, Ambassadors Club of the Chamber of Commerce and a board member of Grace Lutheran Church and Grace Foundation. Besides his community involvement, Peter was an Army Veteran of WWII where he spent 18 months in the European theater and was an Infantryman in the Battle of the Bulge. Pete was an avid fisherman, golfer, and gardener. |

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Eau Claire; son Mark (Karen) Scarseth of Chippewa Falls and daughter, Sue (Gary) Martin of Springboro, OH; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Hannah Scarseth.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be Friday at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Ave with visitation one hour prior at church. Pastors Rolf Nestingen and Debra Boynton will officiate. Interment will be at 1:15 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 53.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Grace Foundation or Grace Lutheran Church.
