   Irene Mae Vennen, age 95, of Eau Claire, died on June 14, 2009 at Luther Hospital. She was born January 29, 1914, in Cornell, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Ada (Hamilton) Hanson. She married Charles Vennen on December 10, 1932 in Eau Claire.
 
Irene was a confirmed member of Epiphany Lutheran Church since 1942. She was a past member of Ladies Aid, World Relief Quilting and Bethesda Thrift Shop. Irene and Chuck loved to go dancing, play cards, and go fishing. She took great pride in her neat house and yard. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and quilter. Irene started each morning in prayer and Bible Study.
   

Irene is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte (Myron) Grafstrom, (Walker, MN) and Bonnie (Robert) Anderson (Eau Claire, WI); nine grandchildren, Vicki (Tom) Carraway, (Pine River, MN), Steven Anderson (Reedsburg, WI), Lori (John) Maasch (Middelton, WI), Kristi (Brian) Johnson (Elk Mound, WI), Kari (Rick) Tylke (Milwaukee, WI), Bart (Kari) Grafstrom (Rochester, MN), John (Carla) Grafstrom (Maple Grove, MN), Paul (Sue) Grafstrom (Roseau, MN) and Cheri (Gary) Tolkinen (Lino Lakes, MN); 26 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Narice (Jolliffe) Bortle (Altoona, WI).
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 1993; a twin sister, Lerean Hanson; a sister, Lulu Fern (Hansen) Jolliffe; a brother, Roy Hanson; and a niece, Pricilla (Shirely) Jolliffe Cowger.
 
Irene's family would like to acknowledge and extend appreciation to all of her friends at Oakwood Apartment for their companionship throughout the years.
 
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany Lane, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Friends may call at church one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church or Northwest Homecare.
