Willard Brill, 83, passed away May 12, 2010. He was born September 25, 1926, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Clare and Laura Olsen Brill, both of whom precede him.
On August 15, 1954, he was united in marriage with the former Joan Dams at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire.
Willard graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1944 and later graduated from Eau Claire State Teachers' College (now UW-EC) in 1948. In the following year, he began his lengthy teaching career in Eau Claire at the old west side junior high school in the English department and retired in 1989 as a guidance counselor at North High School.
In World War II he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
He followed closely local sports, most particularly the North High Huskies for whom he had much attachment. He also was a long time helper in the Meals on Wheels program. |

Music was important to him in his life. He played in the Zor Temple Drum Corps for many years, enjoying his participation in Shrine parades in numerous cities both in the U.S. and Canada. He also held membership in the Eau Claire Municipal Band for 40 years, and in that affiliation he played in hundreds of concerts at the Owen Park band shell under the direction of Donald I. "Sarge" Boyd.
He was an active member of First Lutheran Church involving himself in
various responsibilities and formerly serving on the church council.
Willard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan; daughter Eileen (Tom) Loiselle of Eau Claire; sons Dr. Thomas (Edie Trimmer) Brill of Salt Lake City, Utah; James (June) Brill of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Anthony (Cassandra) Loiselle, Brittany Loiselle (fiancé Tim Peterson) and Melissa Loiselle (fiancé Jason Chambers) and Sarah Nelson-Brill. Two special cousins, Alice Norton and Don Brill, survive him as well.
The family is planning a private committal service in Lake View Cemetery at a later date. Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. To express condolences memorials may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children or organization of choice.
