Nita Frances (Burwell) Brown, 86, passed away on July 2, 2010 at Fall Creek Valley Care Center.
Nita was born on December 30, 1923 in Portland, Oregon to Homer and Lucile (Hansen) Burwell. Her parents were Seventh-Day Adventist missionaries to China where Nita spent several years of her childhood. She graduated from LaSierra College in
RIverside, California in 1944 with an associate of arts degree. In 1946 she married Frederick W. Brown in Oakland, California. Nita loved playing the piano and organ. She could light up a room with her smile and wit. She also expressed her artistic talents in needlework. Nita was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, travel, and the arts. She was involved in church and community activities wherever she lived. |

She is survived by a sister, Yvonne (Burwell) Rothegeb of Colton, CA; children, Dr. Frederick B. Brown (Deb) of Spring Lake, MI; daughter, Nita L. Johnson (Gilbert) of Altoona, WI ; grand-daughthers ,Bonnie Winkleman (Justin) of Las Vegas, NV, Stacy Gusky (Jon) of Sheriadan, IN, and Karen Johnson of Madison, WI; four great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
A private family service will be held in her honor at a future date.
