In loving memory of Martha Cecile Hayes Callaghan.

Born July 1, 1925, Decatur, IL; died February 3, 2010, Eau Claire, WI.

Martha attended Barat College, Lake Forest, IL, and graduated from Trinity College, Washington, D.C., in 1947 with a B.A. in History.

She married D. Coyne Callaghan, Sr., on June 28, 1947 at Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago, IL. She was the loving daughter of Margaret Constance Muleady Hayes (dec.) and Edward Arthur Hayes (dec.) of Chicago, IL.

She was the beloved sister of Anthy Martini, Northbrook, IL, Macy Knapp, (dec.) and Catherine Stahl, (dec.).

She was the beloved mother of Martin Thomas (Marla) Callaghan, Margaret Elizabeth (Paul) Wittig, D. Coyne Callaghan, Jr, Mary Loretta (Bob) Duffy, Edward Hayes Callaghan, Thomas Andrew (Kathleen) Callaghan, Martha Cecile (Paul) Weise, Julie Catherine (Bob) Nelson, William Joseph (Laurel) Callaghan, James Michael (Caralynn) Callaghan, John Patrick (Marianne) Callaghan; and the grandmother of 39 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Martha, Mom, "Massa" was a wonderful wife and steady support to her husband and boyfriend of 63 years, Coyne, Sr. She was an exemplary mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her loving and grateful family and their friends. Her devotion to Dad, to her family and the family business was complete and enduring. Her patron saint, St. Martha, was known for her hospitality and was simply described as "She served." (An understatement for Martha Callaghan.) She would regularly greet each of her children or grandchildren with the phrase, "Why are you so gorgeous today?", and they would answer, "Because Massa loves me."
