Richard Donald "Dick" Feeney, 77, died early Wednesday morning on February 24, 2010 at his home in Eau Claire.
He was born January 3, 1933 to Esther (Garton) and William Feeney. He was a lifelong resident of Eau Claire and graduated from St. Patrick's Central High School in 1951. He was in the Civil Air Patrol in high school. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955 and was stationed at Wheelus AFB in Tripoli, Libya as part of the 7th Air Rescue Group. He worked as an Engineering Technician for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 37 years. He married Lorrie Loomis December 26, 1963.

Dick was a talkative, inventive person with a sense of adventure. He was a tireless volunteer with a passionate interest in planes, trains, automobiles, history, travel, and photography. He built his own sports car, the Alpha Centauri, from the parts of 24 different cars. He was a founding member of the Chippewa Valley Sports Car Club and participated in rallies, autocross, hill climbs, ice racing, and car shows. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and enjoyed going to air shows and fly-ins with his friends. He gave regular bus tours about Eau Claire area history for school groups and the Chippewa Valley Museum. His documentary series Dick Feeney Presents airs on Chippewa Valley Community Television.
He is survived by his wife Lorrie, his beloved daughter Francie Feeney and her husband Roland Miller of Minneapolis, and his sister Marcella (Feeney) Bishop and her family in Polson, MT. |

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Berniece (Seipel) Feeney.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday March 2 at 11:30 AM at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. Eau Claire, WI 54703. Friends and family may call at the church gathering room one hour before the service. Fr. John Schultz will officiate. Interment will be private.
