Mary had a gift for hospitality and making people feel welcome, listened to, loved, and always well-fed. She had a passion for helping people find and reach their potential. She did this in a number of ways including her work with the Hmong Community beginning in the 1970's, with her sisters in PEO, and through her involvement in Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples, FL and at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, MN. Mary was centrally involved in the formation of the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley and was thrilled to see that organization gain strength in the community and impact in the lives of so many young people.
Mary is survived by her husband Lee, their sons David (Michelle), John (Terri), Paul (Melissa) and daughter Jeanne (Andrew Hartfield); their grandchildren Andrew (Katie), Charlee, Molly (Blake Bailey), Leah, Will, Hannah, Jack, Christian, Mackenzi, and Elaina; Mary's brother Bill (Pat) Hagberg and half brother Earl Baker, as well as an abundance of friends and extended family.
All are welcome to the committal service, which will take place at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 23, 2010 in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54701. Pastor Kurt Jacobson and Pastor Jim Page will officiate. Visitation will take place Tuesday June 22, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran church from 3 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning from 10:30 until the time of services.
