Albert “Al” W. Stacey, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Friday July 30, 2010, at Syverson Lutheran Home.
 
Graveside services will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
  

 

   He was born in Detroit, Mich. On June 21, 1916 and is the son of John and Victoria (Balovich) Stas. He married Alice Butenas on Dec. 27, 1941 at St. Martha-Mary Chapel in Dearborn, Mich. He worked for the Chrysler Corporation, in Detroit, as a computer systems analyst for 37 years.
 
Al achieved the rank of Master Sergeant in the Army, and served in WW11. Throughout the time he was in the service, he was awarded the Good conduct Medal, Master Marksman, American Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. He left the military with an honorable discharge. He enjoyed bowling and coin collecting, as well as following his favorite sports team, the Detroit Tigers. He loved to spend time with his family and was very involved in their lives. Albert always thought of others first, and was truly a selfless man.
   

He is survived by his wife, Alice; two children, Kenneth (Judith) Stacey of Surprise, Arizona, and Kathleen (Tom) Hanrath; five grandchildren, Lara Sellars, Joshua Stacey, and Kalyn, Mathew, and Megan Hanrath.
 
Al was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mildred Matul, and Julie Downey.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Albert’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
