Eugene L. Bartingale, 87, of 1156 W. Hamilton Avenue
, Eau Claire , peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at
Luther Hospital .
Gene was born in Eau Claire on July 23, 1923 to Thomas and Lily
Bartingale. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1941 and
entered the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Pacific during World
War II.
He married Naomi Buchanan in 1947 and they spent their entire
married life in Eau Claire . Gene worked as a plumber, first for
Bartingale Plumbing Co., and later with his son at E.L. Bartingale
Plumbing. He was the Executive Director for the Sundowners Drum
and Bugle Corps and later the Wausau Story Drum and Bugle Corps in
the 1970’s. Gene enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time with
family and friends.
Gene was predeceased by his parents, brothers Thomas and Donald, and his wife of 53 years, Naomi. |

Gene is survived by his daughter Nancy (John) Koehler, of Appleton , WI and his son, Andrew (Netsanet and her daughter, Frena) of Eau Claire ; three granddaughters, Diana Bartingale, Bethany Koehler, and Mallory (Mark) Mueller; and a great granddaughter Avalyn Anne Mueller.
He is also survived by a loving and faithful companion of ten years, Arlene Frank; and her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Arlene’s family for their care for Gene in his home, especially Cindy, Sarah and Jason. Also thanks to Northwest Home Care and Dove Health Care Center where Gene resided since January of this year.
According to Gene’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memorials are preferred to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway St. , Eau Claire , WI 54703 in Gene’s name. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
