Leon John Berg, age 80 of Eau Claire passed away on Sunday January 30th, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday February 3, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Father Eugene Klink will officiate. Spring Interment will be at later date in the Tilden Emmanuel Cemetery near Tilden, WI. Visitation will take place on Wednesday evening from 4-8 pm at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI. There will be a prayer service Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at the church from noon until the time of services. |

Leon was born May 18, 1930 to Joseph and Eleanor (Zwirlein) Berg. He married Arlene Boettcher on July 17, 1948 in Bloomer, WI. Leon worked for Stumm's Hatchery in Bloomer until the summer of 1970. He then began working for K-Mart in Eau Claire as Automotive manager. He became District Manager until he decided to go back into the store as manager of Automotive and Sporting Goods/ Auto Department retiring in 1992.
Leon and Arlene enjoyed camping with family and friends for many years in Solon Springs. Leon also enjoyed his many years of fishing in the winter and summer.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents, his brothers, Norbert, Arthur, and Francis Berg and a sister Lorrane Barth. Leon is survived by his sons Curtis (Shari) of Eau Claire, Gary (Vicki) of Cameron, daughters, Becki (Bill) Behn of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa , Tammi Berg of Eau Claire, and Cindy (Stan) Hill of Fayetteville, GA , sisters, Joan Johnson of Bloomer, WI , Ceil (Kenneth) Pitsch of Jim Falls, grandchildren, Matthew, Kristin, Karine, Laurice, Jonathan, Keegan, Casey and, great grandchildren, Isabelle, Abrina, Gabe, Kierstin, Ayden, Dylan, Papa to Chelsea and Jenna Goldsmith and Katie and Paul Kress.
