Laura Nan Dokkestul, 72, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Fall Creek Care Center, going home to her eternal home with Jesus.
She was born April 11, 1938 in Spring Valley, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Violet
(Issacson) Lewiston. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1956. She was joined in marriage to Gene Dokkestul on September 8, 1956 at North Presbyterian Church and together raised their five children. Laura has been a long member of Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church.
Laura was a fulltime home maker and then worked at Heckel's Big Steer making wonderful pies. She worked for Randall's Foods in the deli for over 17 years, retiring in December of 1998. |
She is survived by her husband, Gene; five children, David (Elizabeth) of Hayward, WI, Darrell (Roselie) of Eau Claire, Peter (Julie) of Eau Claire, WI, Laurene (Kyle) Burchell of Eau Claire, WI and Dennis (Heather) of Fall Creek, WI. 13 grandchildren, John Dokkestul of Duluth, MN, Mackenzie (Shane) Deffenbaugh of Franklin, PA, Mallory (Matt Olsen) Pichler and Sydnie Burchell of Eau Claire, WI, Sari Ann Dokkestul of Eau Claire, WI, Courtney Dokkestul of Hollandale, WI, Adam Dokkestul of Duluth, WI, Brad Sinclair of Winona, MN, Brayden, Bryxen, Madysen Dokkestul of Fall Creek, WI, Mikayla and Noah Dokkestul of Eau Claire, WI. One brother, Leroy (Doris) Lewiston of Eau Claire and two brother-in-laws, Herbert Luer of Eau Claire and Raymond Sumter of Spring Valley, WI, a sister-in-law, Irene (Bob) Lamont of Eau Claire, WI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ilene Luer and Bobette Sumter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 21st at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, 123 W. Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire with a burial ceremony at Rest Haven Gardens in the Town of Washington. Pastor Brian Quade officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 pm on Sunday, Feb. 20th at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI and at the church Monday morning an hour prior to the service.
