Frances was a wonderful and kind woman who always thought of others before herself and whose motto was "never to judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes". She worked at ammunitions plants in Eau Claire, WI during World War II and at Presto Industries during the Vietnam War. Frances was famous for her quilting, baking , gardening and cooking skills and for her spotless home. Her baked goods are still legendary and her canning was a work of art. She loved her family and church above all else and she will continue to live in all our hearts and memories.
Frances was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Altoona, WI since 1944 where she was a member of The Mission Ladies Workshop for thirty years. Along with the assistance of the other mission ladies, Frances put together well over 500 quilts that were distributed to the needy, including Bolton House, Catholic Charities, Hospice and to the Reservations in Northern Wisconsin. On any given winter night you could find Frances sewing quilts together while caring for Leonard when he became frail. Her prayer books and her rosary were a part of her everyday life. When away from her quilting Fran was always wanting us to play "just one more game" of Scrabble.
