A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister, Jean was born in Haugen, Wisconsin on December 23, 1923 the daughter of Arthur and Helena (Heinze) Berschneider.

After graduating from high school in Rice Lake, Jean moved to Eau Claire and lived with her sister and two lifelong friends for the next twelve years. She began working in the office for Bunny Bread Bakery, where she met the love (Al) of her life, whom she married on June 22, 1957 at St. Boniface Church in Chetek, WI.

Beginning a family the following year, Al and Jean raised four sons. Later, she again entered the work force, spending more than two decades working for the City of Eau Claire before retiring. This allowed her time to spend with her two grandchildren and to keep up her letter writing to friends and relatives.

Jean was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church, and loved taking walks at all times of the year. She loved spending time with family and friends. In addition, she was noted for her baking and storytelling, often interweaving several different stories all within one conversation.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Eldred (Al) of Eau Claire, sons Timothy of Maplewood, MN; David (Kari) of Black River Falls; Ronald (Cathy) of Madison; and Scott of Hopkins, MN. Her grandchildren are Michael (Amanda) of Milwaukee and Jacob of Madison; and great-grandchildren Noah and Caleb in Milwaukee. She is also survived by her sister Marcia (Bob) Keopp, of Ocala, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Helena, and sister Doris.
