Hazel I. McElroy, age 81, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at home under the care of Mayo Clinic Health System - Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral services for Hazel will be Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service to conclude the evening's visitation and also on Monday at the funeral home an hour prior to services.
Inurnment will be in the Chapel of the Resurrection Eau Claire Mausoleum at a later date. |

Hazel Irene McElroy was born April 28, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts, to George E. and Emily G. (Anderson) Irons. She was raised in the Boston area and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1947.
Hazel married Francis McElroy on June 6, 1950 in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Hazel was known as Irene to as many as called her Hazel. She was a devoted mother to seven wonderful children. She loved gardening and all kinds of needlework and other crafts.
Survivors include children, Francis, Jr. of Bloomfield, CT, Marianne J. Pollard of Livermore, CA, Jacqueline T. of Eau Claire, WI, Ralph F. of Simpsonville, SC and Christopher A. of Maple Valley, WA; a brother, Dr. Russell Irons of Braintree, MA; 16 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Francis X. McElroy; her parents; 2 daughters, Valerie J. Orth of South St. Paul and Irene E. Keith of Aurora, IL.
