Loretta Michels passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire at the age 102.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm (noon) on Monday October 17, 2011 at St. Raymond of Penafort Church, S10444 Highway 53, Fall Creek, WI 54742. Father James Kurzynski will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow services in the parish, Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Monday morning an hour prior to the services.
Loretta was born the oldest of six children to Albert and Cecelia (Scheuermann) Michels on August 27, 1909.
At the age of 20, Loretta moved from the Eau Claire area and became the caretaker for Father Louis Iekel in Garnavillo, Iowa and after his retirement, moved with him to Dubuque, Iowa and continued to care for him while working at Hartig Drugs in Dubuque. |

Loretta was preceded in death by: her parents; her sisters, Lucy (Fred) Arndt, Clara (Marshall) Cusick; brothers, Leonard Michels, Henry Michels; sister-in-laws, Mary (Barstow) Michels, brothers-in-laws, Fred Arndt and Marshall Cusick and nephews, Jimmy Michels, Christopher Michels, Nicholas Michels, and Mark Michels.
She is survived by brothers Al Michels, sister-in-laws, Joan Michels and Ione Michels.
Loretta is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Loretta had many friends over the years from Iowa including Paula Postel and family. She spoke of her Iowa family often and our hearts go out to you for your loss. For 80 years she was so much a part of your family and we cannot express how much you must have missed her when she moved back to Wisconsin.
We would like to thank all at the Clairemont Nursing Home for all their care for Loretta for the past two and a half years.
