Alice A. (Honey) Owen, age 82 of Eau Claire, passed away in her sleep Tuesday evening; August 9th, 2011 at Care Partners in Eau Claire.

Alice was born on December 12th , 1928 to Frank and Kathryn (Flaherty) Beaver in Loyal, WI. She attended Loyal schools and graduated from Loyal High School in 1946. She married James Owen in 1949 in Eau Claire. She worked at Presto Industries and the A&P store a few years before becoming a mother. After raising her children she returned to work at Burroughs/Memorex until she retired.

Honey was truly a joy to be around, very personable and friendly to others. Even though sometimes she did have a stubborn streak she always had a smile on her face and always shared her smile with others. She often talked about the old days when things were hard and money was scarce. Growing up they made do with what they had. This continued later in life as raising 6 children was always a challenge. Anybody that met her enjoyed her company and her stories. In her earlier years she enjoyed camping and sitting by a fire. She would even have a fire in her back yard to sit at until late into the night. One of her favorite pastimes was working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed being with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her a lot of happiness and joy. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Honey is survived by her 6 sons, Tony (Debi), Mike (Julie), Pete (Debbie), Jamie (Jessica), Bob (Ellen), of Eau Claire and Bill (Lisa) of Onalaska, two sisters, Marcy (Bob) Schoettle, of Eau Claire and Donna Zagar of West Bend, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
