Adeline P. (Ludwig) Owens, 92, died on September 10, 2011 at Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire, WI. She was born on December 11, 1918 at her grandparents' home at 410 Doty St in Eau Claire to Albert H. and Gertrude L. (Boos) Ludwig.

She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1937 and married Lloyd V. Owens at Camp Claiborne, LA on February 27, 1943. She and Lloyd lived in Eau Claire most of their married life. Together they were tireless volunteers for many organizations, including the Noon Exchange Club, VFW Post 305 and the Chippewa Valley Museum. After his death in 1978, she continued volunteering, working at the Regis High School Library, teaching English for Literacy Volunteers, serving food at the VFW Post 305 on bingo nights, continuing her support of the Chippewa Valley Museum with her Heritage Club membership, participating in the elective process by being a poll worker and donating her Special Brownies to Immaculate Conception Parish for their annual Fall Festival. |

Before macular degeneration took her sight she enjoyed traveling, managing to get to every state except Maine and New Hampshire. She was an avid crossword puzzler and excellent Scrabble player. For nearly 40 years she bowled in the Little Six league at Wagner's and she loved playing in several 500 card clubs. She loved her baseball, especially the Milwaukee Brewers and the Eau Claire Cavaliers.
She is survived by her daughter Roxie Owens and son-in-law Ed

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Lloyd and brother Clarence Ludwig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Ave., Eau Claire, WI at 1 p.m. with Fr. Eugene Klink officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept., 15, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701 and on Friday at the church from noon until time of services.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
