   Edward H. Ruckman, age 90 of Eau Claire passed away Thursday evening July 7, 2011 at Mayo Health Systems - Eau Claire. 
 
Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Meta A. Trebus Memorial Chapel (Syverson Lutheran Home, 816 Porter Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701). 
 
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday. Private inurnment will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Eau Claire where full military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #53.
 
Ed was born on Oct. 8, 1920, the second child born to Ruby (Hirst) Ruckman and Paul Ruckman who resided in Farmer City, Illinois. Ed grew up on a farm prior to attending the University of Illinois. While in college, he enlisted in the US Navy and went on to become Naval Flight Instructor. Ed was very proud of the years he served in the military during World War II.
 
While in the Navy, Ed married Dorothy Krenz, a marriage that spanned more than 60 years.
   

After returning to Eau Claire following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Ed worked as a salesman for Bark River Culvert and Equipment Company for more than 30 years. After Ed retired, he and Dorothy, enjoyed spending time in Florida and came to see it as an adopted second home. They especially enjoyed golfing, visiting with friends and walking the beach.
 
He is survived by his two children, Barbara (Stephen) Lyrene, Silverhill, Ala. and James (Kristine),Eau Claire; three grandchildren; Lisa (Ron) Blevins, Minneapolis, Mn., Sara (Greg) Aldridge, Eau Claire and Peter Lyrene, Lawrence Kan., two great-grandchildren; Weston and Camryn Blevins., Minneapolis, and four siblings.
 
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy and two siblings. 
 
Ed's family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers at Mayo Health System - Eau Claire during the days that preceded his death. They are also grateful for the wonderful care he received while a resident at Syverson Lutheran Home.
 
In addition to being a veteran of World War II, Ed, like his father has been a proud member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree Masons for over 60 years.
 
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Meta A. Trebus Memorial Chapel (Syverson Lutheran Home, 816 Porter Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701.)
