Joyce Marion Steen, age 84, of Eau Claire, died Friday, April 8th, 2011 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Joyce was born October 25th, 1926 to Ed and Jonethe (Halverson) Embertson in Eau Claire. She met her husband, Burton in Minneapolis and married him on May 14th, 1952.

Joyce attended Eau Claire Senior High, Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, MN and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

In her younger years, Joyce traveled with her high school choir, performed solos where she played the piano, volunteered at Luther Hospital, and worked in Minneapolis. Later, she loved to travel and have adventures and passed that spirit on to her children. Joyce was so much fun to be with and gave us many fond memories. She loved the outdoors; she loved to garden, read, cook, sew, knit, and paint. Joyce loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a devoted mother. Her outstanding display of love for others was a wonderful Godly example for her children and many others in both her church and community. Joyce will forever be remembered for her wonderful caring nature.

Joyce is survived by her children: Daniel, Norsen, Loren, Terry, Holly, Robin and their children; sisters Darlene Stokes and Gloria Ganther. She is preceded in death by husband, Burton L. Steen; her parents; her sister, Beatrice Lebegue; her brother, Richard Embertson.
