Douglass Thomas died April 10, 2011. In his 60 years his kind, caring soul and artistic eye touched the lives of hundreds. His students at the
Eleva-Strum schools learned the joy and self-worth that comes from creating art. In his retirement, his art school in Washburn, WI, became a place for area artists of all ages to gather and grow.
Douglass had the gift to make everyone see the world from a unique perspective. He was a dear friend and brother genuinely interested in the lives, hopes and dreams of all those around him. Always the first to offer a helping hand.
His grandchildren will miss his model trains, horsey-back rides, and hugs. |

He made the dreams of his children his own, fulfilling each and every one.
To his adoring wife of 40 years, Douglass was beyond a soul mate, always dedicated in making his wife the center of his being. His loving gazes and warm kisses will never be forgotten.
It is only fitting that Douglass left us on a beautiful spring day, filled with color and light.
A memorial gathering for Douglass will be Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the dthomas art school.
