Donald J. Tierney, age 92, passed away peacefully on
Friday April 22, 2011 at his home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Don was born on November 28, 1918 in Barnum Iowa, to Joseph and
Emma (O'Hearn) Tierney. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School
in 1937 and attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. Don
left school to join the U.S. Army during WWII, graduated from
Officers Candidate School and he was stationed in Jackson,
Mississippi.
He married Beverly Walrod in 1943.
Don and Beverly moved to Eau Claire from Rochester, Minnesota in
1968 and was the general manager of the New York Life Insurance
Company (Eau Claire, division) until his retirement in 1978.
He was very actively involved in a number of organizations, which included; the YMCA, Sacred Heart Hospital Church, Immaculate Conception Church, Meals on Wheels and many other organizations that were connected to children. |

Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly; children Colleen Karr, Northville, Mich., Barbara (Tom) Tervo, Jamestown, NC., Joe (Linda) Tierney, Stillwater, Minn., Shawn Tierney and Diane Scovill, Minneapolis, Minn., Don (Marty) Tierney, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Terrance (Sasha) Tierney, San Francisco, Cali.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers John and Maurice.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church (1712 Highland Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701) with Fr. Eugene Klink celebrant and Monsignor Edmund Klimek concelebrating.
There will be no visitation prior to services.
Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Chapel of the Resurrection.
