Richard E. Wendt, age 84 of Eau Claire,
Wisconsin, died February 12, at Luther Hospital. He was born July
23, 1926, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Arthur Wendt and Pansy
Basacker Wendt.
He joined the Army in 1945 and was stationed in Germany, and
returned to Eau Claire after his tour of duty.

Richard married Patricia Tomsen August 21, 1946, at
St. Patrick Church in Eau Claire. He worked as a custodian for the
Eau Claire Area Schools until his retirement in 1989. Richard
played softball and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved
teaching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how
to fish. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was
much loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his two children, Peggy (David) Mickelson and Robert Wendt, both of Eau Claire; his sister, Gloria Netteberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five grandchildren Robert (Emily) Wendt of Chetek, Melissa (Bryan) Schick of Strum, Michelle Kaul of Eau Claire, Stacy Mickelson of Chicago, and Richard J. Wendt of Chetek; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia and a sister Lois Wendt of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Grace Woodlands for their wonderful care. |

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 15, at St. Olaf's Catholic Church (3220 Monroe St.) in Eau Claire with the Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the Church. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, where full military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 305.
The Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home of Eau Claire is assisting the family with arrangements.
