Peggy Lee Van Zanten, 54, of Eau Claire, passed away on Tuesday evening February 22, 2011 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire as a result of metastatic breast cancer.
Peggy was born on January 16th, 1957 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Claude and Donna (Kidd) Andrews. She grew up in
Pepin, Wisconsin where she graduated in 1975 at the top of her class. She then married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Van
Zanten, in 1976 at the Pepin Methodist Church. Peggy and Kevin spent thirty four wonderful years loving and supporting each other. Kevin was born in California, and Peggy had always been amazed how a little boy from California and a little girl from North Carolina found each other miles away in the little town of
Pepin. It must have been fate! |

Peggy received both her bachelor and master of business administration degrees in comprehensive accounting from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She strived for excellence in all measures and received several educational awards, including both the undergraduate and graduate studies Outstanding Student Awards for the College of Business. Peggy had a strong passion for learning and took great pride in furthering her education. She was a CPA (certified public accountant), CMA (certified management accountant), CFE (certified fraud examiner), and was CFF (certified in financial forensics) at Wipfli, LLP in Eau Claire. Peggy was also a member of various professional associations and received numerous business awards. She was truly an inspiration to others.
Not only did Peggy have the talent and drive for a successful career, but she was also very generous to her family. She put her own career on hold for years to raise and care for her children and husband. She had many years of endless memories with them, as family was the most important thing in her life. She truly was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She also enjoyed the company of her favorite four legged friend, a golden-doodle named Scout. Religion was another very important aspect of Peggy's life. Being an active member in the Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Eau Claire helped Peggy strengthen her faith in God, and she believed in Jesus Christ as her Savior wholeheartedly.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Kevin Van Zanten; two children and one son-in-law, Jason Van Zanten of Eau Claire and Jessie and Matt Maurer of Farmington, MN; parents, Claude and Donna Andrews of Pepin; sister, Terri (Gary) Hoyt of Durand; and many other friends and family members who will all miss her dearly.
