Charles W. Bejin, 89, of Chippewa Falls passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Charles was born in Chippewa Falls on July 2, 1918 to Charles and Hattie
Bejin. He lived most of his life in the Chippewa Falls area. He grew up on the south side of Chippewa Falls and was a life-long member of Holy Ghost Parish. Charles was also a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the “McDonalds Morning Coffee Klatch.”
Charles became a member of the Wisconsin National Guard after graduating from the Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1936. During World War II he was called to active duty as a member of the Army Air Corps where he became a B17 pilot. He went on to be a B17 training instructor at Randolph Field in Texas. |
Charles married Magdalen Dols on November 21, 1940 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. Together they raised seven children at their home in the Town of Lafayette.
After the war, Charles started and operated C.W. Bejin Petroleum Service until his retirement in 1980. His work took him to much of northwestern WI, and eastern MN. The friendships he established in business where cherished by him throughout his retirement.
Throughout his life, Charles was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and skiing. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin and traveling throughout the western United States.
Charles is preceded in death by: his parents; sister Jean Marie; brother Harry, brother Bruce, infant granddaughter Olivia Samse, and grandson Chad Bejin.
Charles is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Magdalen; and seven children: Charles G. (Judith) Cheyenne, WY; Jean Marie Waddell, Hudson; Gary W. (Rozanna) Eau Claire; William P. (Karen) Chippewa Falls; Mark (Sparky) R. (Sharon) Chippewa Falls; Marquita Samse, Eau Claire; and John T. (Kris) Cadott. Charles is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Geraldine Bejin and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. Services will follow visitation at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Edmund Doerre and Rev. Robert Hoekstra will be officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council at the services.
The family prefers memorials to be given to a charity of your choice.
