Eunice J. Schindler, 82, of 740 Stanley St.,
Chippewa Falls, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the
Chippewa Manor Nursing Home, Chippewa Falls.
Eunice was born August 20, 1926 in Bloomer to Emma (Boos) and
Richard Sarauer. She attended schools in Cooks Valley and then
Bloomer.
On May 22, 1944 she married Gilbert Schindler at St. Paul’s
Catholic Church in Bloomer. They farmed in the town of Howard
until Gilbert’s retirement in 1982. Eunice and Gib moved to
Chippewa Falls in 1988. She was a member of St. Charles
Parish, the parish funeral hospitality and prayer chain.
In addition to farming, Eunice was also a skilled seamstress,
making all of her children’s clothing. She made numerous
quilts and afghans that she gave to her children and
grandchildren. Canning, baking, bird watching were a few of
the activities she enjoyed along with collecting salt and
pepper shakers, dolls and Betty Boop items.
Eunice is survived by: her loving husband, Gilbert of 64 years; children, Gerald (Arleen) of Solon Springs, WI, Arnold (Jane) of Chippewa Falls, Lucy (Pat) McCarthy of Rothschild, Darlene (Dennis) Brain and Karen (Maynard) Swoboda of Chippewa Falls; 17 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren; she is further survived by one brother, Gilbert Sarauer of Evansdale, IA; three sisters, Eileen Swoboda of Chippewa Falls, Gloria (Bernie) Schindler of Colfax and Janice (Bill) Bischel of Bloomer; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. |
Eunice was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Helen Bischel; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Schindler; brother, Harold Saruaer; sister-in-law, Elaine Sarauer; and brother-in-law, Charles Swoboda.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at St. Charles Church, Chippewa Falls. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Ladies Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. both on Tuesday at the funeral home.
