Marvin J. Franz, 77, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Colfax Health & Rehabilitation in Colfax after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born April 13, 1932 in Chippewa County, the son of Rudolph and Sophia (Lang) Franz.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Marvin married Sylvia Schemenauer on October 20, 1962 at St. Charles Church, Chippewa Falls.
He worked at the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled for many years and also Benish Trucking. He was a member of Moose Lodge #246, American Legion Post #77 and Notre Dame Church.
Marvin enjoyed hunting up north. He will be sadly missed, especially his smile, by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was always happy as you could tell by his smile.
Marvin is survived by: his wife, Sylvia; three sons, Wayne (Pam), Brent
(Debi) and Kyle Franz all of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Shelly (Scott) Retzlaff of Chippewa Falls and Kristie (Martin) Escobedo of Ames, Iowa; three brothers, Joseph Franz of Chippewa Falls, Jerry and Arnold Franz both of Bloomer; one sister, Sister Mary Arnold of Milwaukee; two sisters-in-law, Irma Franz of Chippewa Falls and Marci Franz of Eau Claire; 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Carter, Dustin, Trevor and Luke Franz, Erin Franz, Ben, Garett and Sydney Retzlaff and step grandchildren, Dusty
(Chanda) Hassemer, Riley and Michael Strasburg and Cyndi (Bailey) Pierce. |
He was preceded in death by: one daughter-in-law, Tammy Franz; his parents; three brothers, Robert, Norbert and Sylvester "Trig" Franz; two sisters, Sister Edna and Elsie Kocian; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Franz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Brian J. Jazdzewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Tilden. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, and until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
