Donald C. Nichols, Jr., 55, of
410 Pumphouse Road, Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, November 7,
2009 at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center, Chippewa
Falls.
He was born June 20, 1954 in Benton Harbor, Mich., the son of
Donald C. and Joan J. (Barker) Nichols, Sr.
Don married Kathy Snyder on August 18, 1978 in Jones,
Michigan.
Don was in Nuremburg, Germany for 39 months, serving as a
truck driver. Upon returning home, Don joined the Air National
Guard and became a heavy duty mechanic, serving in Georgia and
in Michigan until 1982. Upon completion of his term, he then
joined the Army National Guard in the 246th Armor Division in
Michigan and retired in 2006, serving 24 years.
Don faithfully served his country for close to 35 years and
served the Lord all of his life.
Don loved the outdoor life of hunting, fishing and camping. He
enjoyed NASCAR and precious to him was his grandson, Robbie.
He was a member of the National Guard Association, 246th Armored Association and Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire. |
He is survived by: his wife of 31 years, Kathy; one daughter, Sarah C. (Griffin) Bowen of Baldwin; his father, Donald C. (Jean) Nichols, Sr. of Niles, Mich.; three brothers, Michael A. (Velma) Nichols of Dowagiac, Mich., John A. (Kim) Nichols of Niles, Mich. and Charles J. (Connie Johnson) Nichols of South Bend, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Robert A. Gausmann and Paiton J. Bowen.
Don was preceded in death by: one daughter, Donna J. Nichols; his mother, Joan Nichols; and one brother, George Nichols.
A Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1805 Goff Ave., Eau Claire, Wis. 54701. Pastor Dennis Pond will be officiating. Interment will be in 5 Points Cemetery in Edwardsburg, Michigan.
Friends may call one half hour before the time of services on Thursday, November 12 at the church.
