Gilmer F. Bowe

   

 
Gilmer F. Bowe, 77, of 4228 133rd St., village of Lake Hallie, died suddenly Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at his residence.
 
He was born September 1, 1932 in Chippewa Falls, the son of Frank and Mary (Nazer) Bowe.
 
Gilmer married Suzanne Mercier on December 1, 1951 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.
 


 

   He served in the U.S. Army from November 18, 1952 to November 17, 1954 and from November 18, 1954 to October 23, 1955 in Germany.
 
He had worked as a carpenter for Leppin Drywall in Pewaukee for 30 years. 
 
Gilmer was a member of Holy Ghost Church, the carpenters union out of Milwaukee and the V.F.W. in Pewaukee.
 
He was an avid hunter, especially in Bayfield at his cabin, and he enjoyed fishing on Otter Lake with his buddies, Rob and Wanda McVinnie and with his nephews. His grandchildren were the love of his life.
 
Gilmer is survived by: his wife, Suzanne; one son, Ronald Bowe of Waukesha; one daughter, Renee (Kelley) of Pewaukee; three sisters, Betty (Don) Ruhe and Myrna Chartrand both of Chippewa Falls and Arlene Rud of Houston, Texas; in-laws, Delores Bowe of Westfield, Wis., Delores Bowe of Pewaukee, Marcy Bowe of Chippewa Falls and Gerda Bowe of Las Vegas, Nev.; 7 grandchildren, Derrick (Alyssa) Bowe, Jason and Dustin Bowe, James and Morgan Reed, Alicia (Kevin) Fricke and Michael (Kari) Reed; and three great grandchildren, Braydon, Dominic and Dustin Bowe.
 
He was preceded in death by: his parents; seven brothers, Clayton, Sylvan, Leon, Robert, Donald, Marvin and Richard Bowe; one sister, Bernadine Pierce; two sisters-in-law, Bernadette Bowe and Joan Bowe; and two brothers-in-law, Neil "Butch" Chartrand and Danny Pierce.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Justin Kizewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
 
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 29, and until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Friday at funeral home.
